- Fees are calculated by estimating a project's hours multiplied by an hourly rate. A project's fee is agreed upon by writer and client before the project begins. Hourly rates are:
- $85 — Copywriting
Start-to-finish writing. From information gathering, interviewing and conceptualizing to creating text for the finished draft. Includes two rounds of revisions.
$60 — Rewrites and copyediting
Rewriting of existing text provided by client. Includes checks for typographical errors, grammar, punctuation, style, uniformity and thorough fact checking.
$40 — Proofreading
Includes checks for typographical errors, grammar, punctuation, style, uniformity and minor fact checking.
- For new clients, introductory phone calls and project discussions are free of charge.
- If project is killed during the copywriting stage, writer is entitled to full payment of time for work up to that point.
- If project is killed after the copy has been submitted, writer is entitled to full payment of agreed-upon fee.
- An up-front deposit of one-third is required for all projects exceeding $2,000.
- Rush fees of 25 percent may be added to projects which require a 24-48 hour turnaround.
